Home Video release of the film on DVD in the bonus features section. They have faked Evelyn's death, plotting to frame Price for the murders, hoping one of the guests will kill him in self-defense. Evelyn heartlessly kills Blackburn, adding another victim, then releases a delirious Price from the chamber. Sara finds Price, covered in blood and with Blackburn's severed head nearby, and shoots him.
Cast
Evelyn and Steven are at one another’s throats, each trying to kill the other. Jennifer, Eddie and Pritchett search the basement for the security system's control panel. While exploring the labyrinthine basement, Jennifer confesses to Eddie that her real name is Sara Wolfe, the recently fired assistant to the real Jennifer. Shortly after, Sara is nearly drowned in a tank of blood by a ghost impersonating Eddie, but the real Eddie arrives in time to save her. Melissa subsequently disappears, leaving behind a massive trail of blood and a camera that shows a little footage of what happened to her.

To pull this off, Castle installed "Percepto!" The simple act of having mini buzzers attached to a handful of seats was enough to spread fear through the entire room. To make the experience all the more frenzied, Castle paid people to scream and faint during screenings, all to be removed by the same fake nurses who made Macabre so eerie. House on Haunted Hill is a far better movie than Macabre, both creepy and camp and anchored by Price’s reliable eerie charm.

Vincent Price played Frederick Loren, an eccentric millionaire who rents a reportedly haunted mansion for one night under the pretense of hosting a party for his wife, Annabelle, whom he believes to be after his fortune. He explains to his guests that any among them who survives in the house for one night—during which all communication with the outside world will be cut—will receive a prize of $10,000. Each is presented with a pistol in order to fend off the house’s ghosts. Annabelle warns the guests that she fears Loren means her harm and meanwhile plots with her lover, Dr. Trent, to trick one of the guests into shooting him. Assorted terrors haunt the guests at every turn, including ghosts, a severed head, and Annabelle’s (later revealed to be faked) death. Though her plot finally comes to fruition and Loren is “shot” by one of the guests, the gun proves to have been loaded with blanks.

A follow-up series by Flanagan titled The Haunting of Bly Manor, with most of the same crew and some of the same cast but a different story and characters, was released on October 9, 2020. Eddie and Pritchett arrive and bring Sara upstairs, after which Evelyn approaches Price to gloat. Price, protected by a bulletproof vest and posing as dead, attacks Evelyn. As they scuffle, Evelyn is thrown through a decaying door, revealing the evil entity of the house – The Darkness. The building's security system is mysteriously tripped, locking everyone inside – a stunt which Price blames on Evelyn.

Price pulls a gun on the guests, demanding to know who killed his wife. Eddie knocks him out and they lock Price in the "Saturation Chamber", an archaic zoetrope device that Vannacutt used to treat schizophrenics. When the others leave, he turns the chamber on, leaving Price to be tortured by the moving images and ghostly hallucinations, resulting in a seizure. In Vannacutt's office, Sara and Eddie find a portrait of the hospital's head staff and realize that the party guests are descendants of the five survivors of the 1931 fire.
Pritchett deduces that the spirits themselves hacked the guest list on Price's computer. The only exception is Blackburn, whose name does not appear among the staff. The poster for the film included an illustration of a house in yet a third style, that of a fanciful four-story Romanesque structure. On May 4, there will be what might just be the world’s first Star Wars-themed haunted house in Manayunk. Warner Home Video released the film on DVD as a tie-in to the release of the 1999 remake. The color version was released on DVD the same year by 20th Century Fox. The pull, however, was "Emergo." Certain theaters were rigged up with pulley systems that allowed them to fly a skeleton over the audience during a scene in the film where a skeleton attacks one of the house's visitors. Some kids started trying to pull it from the ceiling while others knocked it around with their popcorn cups. The most conservative estimates have House on Haunted Hill making back over 12 times its initial budget. William Castle was a horror-loving high school dropout who worked his way through the film industry mainly through working on cheap B-movies. He gained a reputation for making films quickly and under budget, but he wanted to make more than throwaway flicks.
